Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Reptilia Order: Squamata Family: Iguanidae Genus: Basiliscus Species: Wiurn |
Species StandardsPreferred Habitat: Tend to nest in "cliff regions" of the world, temperatures vary — any environment except tundra and polar regions. Diet: Strictly carnivorous — eats larger animals, such as deer, sheep, or cattle. Call: These creatures can make a range of noises that include "hisses" (happy), "growls" (angry), "grunts" (annoyed or upset), and the most impressive call is a loud cry that could remind one of a trumpet mixed with a violin (this is similar to a bark — reason for the noise is unknown at this time). Special Care Needs: Their scales tend to loose their luster over time, get dry and crack — one should apply oils every once in a while to prevent discomfort to the creature. Be cautious, as these animals are extremely poisonous! Their stinger can inject a lethal toxin that is designed for killing large animals. Biology and Anatomy: The Wiurn are cold-blooded creatures that need to monitor their body temperatures by warming up in the sun, or staying cool in the shade. Their scales are nearly rock-hard, and their talons sharp. Their "head-plate" is a super-thick fingernail-like deposit on the top of their head, forming a hard and sturdy ridge, which ends up forming to a hard horn-like point at the back of their head. A thin "sail" membrane stretches from the horn to the nape of the neck to help with flight, something the v.1 Wiurns lack — and allows the v.2 Wiurn to be much more agile in the air. The beasts' stinger is generally extremely poisonous — a single sting can bring down a creature the size of a cow. These creatures lack front limbs, and generally walk along the ground (or up cliffs) like a bat. Behavioral Study: Even though the Wiurn v.2 has the ability to open its jaw much further than the v.1 Wiurn, it still uses the same hunting habits, and uses a strategy similar to a falcon and viper mixed together for hunting. It swoops down from the sky and makes a single stroke with its tail, then waits until the animal dies (or is too weak to struggle) to go in for the meal. When fighting with another of its own kind, it usually doesn't use claws or tail-sting. Instead, they bash their heads together (similar to rams) in a display of strength — after all, that's what the hard "face plate" is for. If you can get such a creature to trust you to the point where it would rather "nudge" you with its head rather than "sting" you with its tail, consider yourself to have a very loyal animal. Suggested Uses: These creatures were designed to be flying mounts — a little less efficient at fighting than their older cousins, they make up for it in their superior flight, rivaling the Gallor in skill and grace. |

Warlord: Warlord is the only breed designed for holding up in a fight. They have very fiery personalities and tempers, and are the quickest to make use of their stinger – so be cautious when training them. It would be best to train them when they're small enough to handle. |
