Species StandardsPreferred Habitat: Temperate to cold forest regions, such as snowy pine forests of the northern lands. There are a few breed differences as to their particular habitats, but for the most part they're all the same. Diet: Strictly carnivorous. Will eat any animal that is easy or small enough to catch. Call: This creature makes all the standard noises of both large and small cats, ranging from "purrs" and "hisses" to "mews" and all the way to "roars". Special Care Needs: Sadly, this creature doesn't need much from a person, as it's rather independent. One can assume a special need would be that it is rather difficult to build up a bond of loyalty (as it is for most cats). Be cautious of their oversized canines! Biology and Anatomy: Every feature on this massive feline is designed to help it dominate. From the massive fangs that protrude over its front lip to the thick and heavy tail that trails behind it, these creatures have a design that leaves them ready to kill. Their senses of hearing, sight, and smell are all incredibly strong. Despite the fact that they can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with an average-sized man, they can stalk silently through their forest home and go unnoticed by even the most clever of prey. If their massive bodies don't immediately take down anything they decide to pounce on, their four sets of razor-sharp claws or huge fangs will do the trick. A well-aimed bite from an Estharne can easily go past scales, fur, or muscle and snap a bone in two. Their pelts are perfectly designed to help them blend in to their environment as well as keep their temperature at a stable level. And those giant tails? Well, besides keeping their bodies or young warm on chilly nights, those tails are the only thing strong enough to twist the spine so an Estharne can always land on its feet. Behavioral Study: Extremely curious creatures, they tend to be rather intelligent and figure things out rather quickly. However, this also causes them to get into quite a bit of trouble and they often find themselves in situations that are rather difficult to get out of. Although they are independent by nature, IF a bond can be made with its owner, it will stay with them for life. As much as one can talk about the behavior of these creatures, they WERE designed after cats — and thus, the element of chaos is placed within them. Imagine everything you know about your average house cat, and then make it to be the size of a tiger when full grown... Suggested Uses: It is suggested that these creatures be mostly used for the Fighting Pit, although they can be (according to some owners) very loyal and loving pets... I personally, however, disagree. |
